Both hunts start Aug. 18. That day might sound like it’s a long way off. But if you want to have a fun and successful hunt, you need to start preparing now.

All of the permits to hunt during Utah’s archery buck deer hunt have been taken.  But archery elk permits, which go on sale July 17, are unlimited in number, so there’s no problem getting one.

After the US Trade Representative recently announced tariffs on another $200 billion of Chinese goods, I was asked whether I would admit that the US is now in a trade war. 

 

China started the trade war in 1994 with currency devaluation and state-directed capitalism. Then got better at it. 16% growth per year.  10% growth per year.  We believed that they wanted to be like us. That they wanted to be democratic… capitalistic… an open society. We believed their accession to the WTO would ensure that process. That belief was catastrophically wrong.

At a recent speaking event, I asked 100 students if they believed they could ever pay cash for college. Eighty-seven of them said no. Now, I know this isn’t a scientific research project. But when I asked those same students why they said no, they told me college costs too much. They figured there would be no way to pay for college without taking out student loans.
