Almost no single issue better personifies Washington gridlock than the sorry state of America’s failing infrastructure. Our roads, bridges, ports, airports, water treatment plants, waste disposal systems and electricity grids are individually and collectively crumbling. There’s unanimous agreement that action is urgently needed, yet Congress continues to sit on its hands, unable or unwilling to develop a coherent approach to address this mounting crisis. 

Will the Green New Deal work? Ask California.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey just outlined their estimated $93 trillion plan for a Green New Deal. It aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in only a decade by transitioning to renewable energy sources.   

I love my morning newspaper.  It’s a ritual.  I love retrieving it from my front porch, unfurling it, opening it up and being greeted by the headline the editor has chosen for his daily flagship masthead’s vindication.  It sets my tone and attitude for the day.  I depend on his judgement for this important psychological setting and he seldom disappoints.  He knows me.  I appreciate him far more than he can imagine. 

 

Governor Signs 88 Bills

SALT LAKE CITY (March 22, 2019) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert signed 88 more bills today. This brings the total number of signed pieces of legislation from the 2019 General Legislative Session so far to 187. Information on these bills can be found below.

President Trump's pro-energy policies are on a collision course with his protectionist policies. Let's hope, for the sake of the economy and energy independence, energy policies prevail.

In the last few years, breakthroughs in extracting oil and natural gas secured America's spot as a top energy producer.

This column is my 500th published column on liberty and the Constitution.  I taught the Constitution and Current Events for forty years at the college level and therefore am qualified to pose the following question.  “What if fake news is not the only thing that is fake?”

What if things are not as they seem, that we not only have fake news but fake history, education, science, and more?  That our world is far more Orwellian than presumed.
