The FDA just greenlit a new treatment for osteoporosis, a therapy for advanced bladder cancer, and a pill that can cure smallpox.

All of these discoveries were hard-won. Research for the osteoporosis treatment, for example, began in 1964 and included 19 clinical studies and 14,000 patients. But this drug is now a beacon of hope for the 10 million Americans living with osteoporosis.

Some lawmakers believe federally funded scientists develop new medicines solo -- and private-sector firms jump in after all the heavy lifting to manufacture drugs and profit.

Anglers must release bluegill caught at Steinaker Reservoir, Pelican Lake

SALT LAKE CITY — Beginning Oct. 14, 2019, anglers must immediately release any bluegill they catch while fishing at Steinaker Reservoir and Pelican Lake. The bluegill is a popular sportfish that’s relatively small and easy to catch.

The Constitution is presently used by both major political parties defending or opposing the House Intelligence Committee impeachment inquiry against President Donald J. Trump.  Both argue their loyalty to it. 

It reads: “The House of Representatives … shall have the sole Power of Impeachment,” (Art. I, Sec. 2, Cla. 5).  The people place a president in power and their representatives—the House—alone initiates and formulates the charges for his possible removal.  The “Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.” So one indicts, the other tries.  Simple enough.

There is still no cure. But the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) could create a pathway to discover one.
