LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTER – JUNE 2018 UNITED STATES HIGHLIGHTS 

 

Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.33 billion pounds in June, down 1 percent from the 4.35 billion pounds produced in June 2017. 

 

Beef production, at 2.30 billion pounds, was 1 percent above the previous year. Cattle slaughter totaled 2.88 million head, up 1 percent from June 2017. The average live weight was unchanged from the previous year, at 1,321 pounds.

EPA To Hold PFAS Community Engagement in Colorado Springs

 

DENVER (July 20, 2018) — Starting on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold the third PFAS community engagement event in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This two-day public event allows EPA to hear directly from Colorado communities, Mountain West states, and local and tribal partners about their experiences with PFAS.

New House Member Sworn in

Salt Lake City – Today, the Utah House of Representatives welcomes the newest House member Marsha Judkins. The Utah County Republicans selected Rep. Judkins to fill the vacancy in District 61, after former Rep. Keith Grover, whose term would have ended in December, filled the vacant seat in the Senate. She was appointed by Governor Gary Herbert on Tuesday, July 17 and sworn in by the chief clerk of the House on July 18, 2018.

Sen. Lee Meets with Judge Kavanaugh

 

WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) issued the following statement Wednesday after meeting with Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
