May is Mental Health Awareness Month
On average in the United States, we lose 1 person every 13.7 minutes because of a completed suicide.
Because of the stigma associated with mental illness, many people are too embarrassed or ashamed to seek help for themselves or their loved ones; though nearly half of the American population will experience a mental health disorder in their lifetime. National Mental Health Awareness Month is a time when we must work together to break through that stigma.
