Plain City Spotlight - New Pioneer Park

Plain City - Pioneer Park has been getting a face lift. The new playground equipment is in and is being installed. This project has been a large undertaking by Councilmember LaFray Kelley, who worked to get RAMP grant money for the playground.  Some funds may need to come from other areas, through impact fees, capital projects, a $5,000 municipal grant and donations. The Lions Club donated $2,000 for picnic tables at Pioneer Park. Ultimately all her hard work has come together by offering this nice new park with new grass, trees, benches & picnic tables.

Kennedy’s Hugs: A Lifetime of Love

Plain City - Back in February, I went out to Fremont High School in Plain City to watch the cheerleaders’ practice. While that may not seem all that interesting, my visit completely changed when I met a cheerleader named Kennedy Hansen. After the practice ended, I became a recipient of one of Kennedy’s famous hugs. The love I felt from that hug was simple yet so pure. It was evident from this experience that Kennedy was no ordinary 16 year old; she was an angel, an angel sent down from Heaven to share a message of love with everyone she met.

Privately Owned landfill in BE county

Box Elder County - Some news stories are garbage. Well, this one really is all about garbage! In Box Elder County, a petition for a privately-owned landfill in Hansel Valley is causing a lot of controversy. Randy Moulding is no stranger to landfills; he has owned two previous landfills and has been involved with them for thirty years. So, when he looked at using just 10% of his ranch to open a 225 acre landfill, it seemed like a good plan.

UTOPIA Update

With every meeting the questions on UTOPIA and the so called savior for the towns, Macquarie, grows deeper.  In towns across the state those involved in the disastrous UTOPIA search to find the best answers for their towns. Brigham City’s Mayor Vincent has stated previously that the City is working hard to provide the best options for the City in the most cost effective manner. It seems all of the cities from Provo to Brigham City are stuck with the problems the original UTOPIA deal has caused.
