Elk festival happens Dec. 8

Hyrum -- Another chance to ride a horse-drawn sleigh or wagon through the middle of hundreds of wild elk is almost here.

To celebrate the start of another elk-viewing season, staff at the Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area will hold the ranch’s annual Elk Festival on Dec. 8. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Nov. 27, Hardware Ranch WMA Manager Brad Hunt said between 250 and 325 elk were on the hills surrounding the meadow through which the sleighs or wagons are pulled.

When the Environmental Protection Agency issued a proposal last month to ease Obama-era restrictions on methane emissions from oil and gas facilities, green activists turned bright red with anger.

Unfortunately, their biggest worry seems to be the effect the proposed methane change will have on Obama's legacy, not the environment. If they were actually interested in keeping the earth green, environmentalists would be championing the EPA's proposal, not protesting it.

(Nov. 26, 2018) — The American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood and platelet donors to give now to ensure blood is available for medical treatments and emergencies during the holiday season.

Heart failure is becoming more and more common. Nearly 6 million Americans are suffering from it today. That figure will grow to more than 8 million by 2030.

After more than a year of negotiations, the United States recently struck a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico. The deal was well worth the wait.

The pact, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), is a public health victory for all three countries. Lawmakers would be wise to finalize the deal immediately.
