North Ogden Mom Takes Lessons From the Lane

"The sport of bowling has given me everything I have in my life- my career, my husband and family, my new job here at Storm Bowling in Utah, and all of my friends have all come from being involved in this great sport." –Leanne Hulsenberg

Ogden Rodeo Band, Throwback to the Past

Weber County- Do you remember or have ever heard of the Ogden Rodeo Band?  Most of us would say no.  With the Pioneer Days coming up, Jerry Harrop likes to share his knowledge about a piece of history about the band.

The Union Pacific Band was organized for forty years touring the U.P. Railroad system back in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. The band was composed of local, talented musicians; later becoming the Ogden Rodeo Band.

Utah Lawmakers May Ditch No Child Left Behind Waiver and Common Core at the Same Time

The nationwide Common Core educational standard sticks in the political craw of a number of Utah Republican legislators.

How’s this for a radical idea?

Reject the waiver/federal funding for George Bush’s No Child Left Behind – now widely condemned by Republicans across the land and in Utah – fund the lost federal money to the tune of $26 million, if need be, and see the behinds of both Common Core and No Child Left Behind.

Hope of America Award

North Ogden—The Kiwanis Club has given out Hope of America Awards to sixth graders at 8 elementary schools—Kanesville, West Weber, Pioneer, Green Acres, Lomond View, Majestic, North Ogden and Valley. Fifty-four students, two 6th graders from each school, received the award of a certificate and a gift card during a school assembly to which parents and family were invited. Their teachers made the selection based on academics, citizenship, and leadership. Kiwanis members make the presentations at each school’s awards assembly in May.

Staying Ahead of the Competition

Weber County - Over the past two years, Weber State University’s athletic program has shown the country just how amazing their athletes are with wins in the Big Sky Tournament for sports, such as men’s basketball, women’s soccer, cross country, and others. So what’s helping these athletes reach their potential and stay ahead of the competition? Part of it has to do with their new training facility located at Marquardt Field House, inside the Weber County Sports Complex next to the Dee Events Center.
