Green Acres Elementary Celebrates Kindness and Compassion

Students at Green Acres know how important it is to show respect to others in their speech.  Late in January they had a weeklong celebration of kindness with a focus on eradicating name-calling.

Weber High’s Tarzan was a Big Hit

Tarzan was presented by Weber High’s production company and directed by Mr. Daniels. Tarzan, the stage musical based on the Disney film, was a perfect choice for their play. The teamwork and hard work for all these young actors didn’t go unnoticed by the audience.

This is a story of an orphaned boy raised by gorillas, and his journey to become a man, as he discovers what it means to be part of a family.

            The raucous musical Pirated! Has been cast with some very talented Titans. Leading the show’s cast are: Merick Masters, Elissa Bailey, Braden Hull, Autumn Aeschlimann, Kaitlyn Torres, and Conner Wangsgard.

Apple for the Teacher is a program through the Standard Examiner’s Newspapers in Education that provides students with an opportunity to nominate and recognize teachers that have made a difference in their lives.

While all teachers are appreciated for the hard work and effort they put forth every day, certain teachers go above and beyond to make a positive influence to the students they teach.

Weber High School

Braige Christensen and Jake Kendall took first place with their project at the FFA State Fair. They will be representing Utah at the National Fair in Kentucky! Congratulations!

These Warriors  finished in the Top 10 at the STATE FBLA Competition (this is a very competitive competition with some events having over 100 kids in them and these kids did a great job so if you see them congratulate them):

Sam Good - 5th Place in Business Math and 8th Place in Word Processing

North Ogden - New Beginnings

The sentiment for the City Council at the beginning of 2014 was one of mixed emotions with a 50% change of members.  Sworn in were Mayor Brent Taylor, Council Member Lynn Satterwaite and Jim Urry.  Citizen Larry Florance, a North Ogden City resident of 51 years, offered his congratulations and appreciation to the new and departing council members.  Mayor Taylor proceeded to recognize former Mayor Richard Harris and acknowledged “many things have changed since Mayor Harris first became involved and so many of the changes have his fingerprints on them.”  He presented the former mayor with a k
