Dear Editor, Our Nation

Dear Editor

It is appalling to me how few people understand that Federal Laws are not superior to State laws. We are all dual-citizens... of our own State and the USA.

When our nation was founded as a Republic, the States were very careful not to create a behemoth that could take power away from them. So they made the States sovereign over the Federal Government that they created. It is still that way today.

Dave Says column

Dear Dave,

Do you recommend that people continue tithing and giving while getting out of debt?

Sarah

Dear Sarah,

If you’re tithing, that would refer to you being a Christian or of the Jewish faith. To the best of my knowledge, those are the only two religions where tithing is taught as a part of the faith. The word literally means “a tenth,” as in a tenth of your income.

RAMP tax a misuse of government power

Consider an 11 year old boy who gets invited by his friend to go watch a new movie that has just come out. Everyone that he has talked to says it’s a great show. He asks his parents if he can go Saturday evening. They inform him that he will be allowed to go if he has his chores done and if he has earned the money. So he spends his time throughout the day getting chores done and asking for additional jobs to earn the $7.00 that it will cost for the movie ticket. The time finally arrives to go to the movie and he eagerly heads off to the show.

Favors and Loot for Sale

 At a July fundraising event in Chicago, Mrs. Michelle Obama remarked, “So, yeah, there’s too much money in politics. There’s (sic) special interests that have too much influence.” Sen. John McCain has been complaining for years that “there is too much money washing around political campaigns today.” According to a 2012 Reuters poll, “Seventy-five percent of Americans feel there is too much money in politics.” Let’s think about money in politics, but first a few facts.

Dear Editor, Ebola

Dear Editor,

There is no way the USA should be sending troops to Africa for humanitarian purposes.

Soldiers are for defending our nation... not being medical clinicians to Third World countries where serious contagion is having a devastating effect.

Everyone knows this mission is specifically to help with the Ebola outbreak in that part of the world, and that is all the more reason not to send them.

Dear Editor, Constituional Amendments

Dear Editor

How sweet would it be if the nation passed Constitutional Amendments similar to those that follow?

Requires balancing the budget;

Requires an automatic 10% across-the-board cut in federal spending (including pay) if a balanced budget is not passed each year in Washington (no more “continuing resolutions”). And no making up for lost spending if a balanced budget is adopted past the budget deadline.

Moves the April 15 tax payment deadline to the day before federal elections.

Limits income tax rates to a maximum of say about 17%;

Dear Editor, Enjoy Autumn

Dear Editor,

Enjoy Autumn

The summer heat can be oppressive, and it can wear you down by summer’s end. When you feel the first cool, crisp day of autumn, it’s like a refreshing boost of energy, and staying indoors is no way to enjoy what autumn has to offer. There are many ways to enjoy the most colorful of seasons. Many of them are free or cost very little money, so get outside and enjoy yourself.
