Who Owns You?

Is absentee voting short changing candidates? As I received my ballot for the primaries in the mail this week I had to wonder whether this is such a great idea. Sure I like the convenience of sitting at the table and then popping it in the mail to vote, it might even increase voter turnout? But to what end? With ballots coming out nearly three weeks before the Primaries most candidates are just now pushing hard and getting the word out about what they stand for. Take Darren Phelps for instance, he is running a hard race for Sheriff.

What’s wrong with this picture? Two Lawyers leasing an office in and doing work for a local bank in Brigham City. The same two lawyers working for and overseeing, as ‘city-attorneys’, the city’s legal needs two hundred yards away at the Brigham City office.

The same bank—seeking and holding the BONDS for the new projects, Hampton Inn, U.S.U. extension; and a huge new construction project, including bonding, for Utopia telecom fiber optics. That bankrupted Brigham City to the tune of $4.5 million and a payment of $439,000 a year for the next 20 years.

A Lesson on Racial Discrimination

Cain asked his infamous question, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” He was telling the Lord that he didn’t have the responsibility to keep track of where his brother was at the time. Ironically Cain knew exactly where his brother was… he had recently killed him because he was jealous of the property that his brother had and he wanted control of it.

Utah defended traditional marriage on April 10th.  Oklahoma scheduled its defense of traditional marriage in the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals (where Utah continued its defense) on April 17th.  The Utah Attorney General’s office believes that other states will continue their defense as well.  There is a widespread belief among legal scholars and officials who want to defend traditional marriage that this issue needs to and probably will end up before the U.S.

One needn't be a rocket scientist to create California's energy problems. According to California Energy Commission, from 1996 to 1999 electricity demand, stimulated by a booming economy, grew by 12 percent while supply grew by less than two percent. Here's how California managed that feat: it takes two years to build a power plant in business-friendly states and four years in California. Sunlaw Energy Company wants to build a $256 million natural gas fired plant in Los Angeles; community activists are stopping it.
