Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Proclaims August 3-9 National Farmers Market Week

WASHINGTON, July 22, 2014 - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has declared August 3 through 9, 2014, "National Farmers Market Week". Throughout the week, USDA will celebrate our nation's thousands of farmers markets, farmers who make them possible and the communities that host them.

SALT LAKE CITY – Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox is taking steps to keep Utah at the forefront of voting accessibility and convenience, announcing today the formation of the iVote Advisory Committee. The committee will consist of state legislators and county clerks, as well as technology and security specialists, and will explore the possibility of expanding electronic voting to more voters throughout the state.

Utah posts another strong jobs report

SALT LAKE CITY – (July 18, 2014) Utah is tied for the second lowest unemployment rate in the nation, as the state’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.5 percent posting strong job growth numbers, according to figures released by the Department of Workforce Services today.

Governor’s response regarding the U.S. Supreme Court decision

SALT LAKE CITY – (July 18, 2014) Gov. Gary R. Herbert released the following statement regarding the decision from the U.S. Supreme Court:

“I believe the Court made the correct decision to issue a stay in the Evans v. Herbert case. This is an important step in the process toward resolution of this issue.”

Producers who experienced losses to bush or tree fruit crops due to frost or freeze during the 2012 crop year may be eligible for assistance through the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP). The program, authorized by the 2014 Farm Bill, provides supplemental NAP payments to eligible producers.
